21 Home Remedies to Remove Facial Hair






Those unwanted hair on your forehead, cheeks, chin or upper lips can filch the beauty of your face. You may find several chemical-laden hair removal products in the market which may damage the sensitive skin in the long run. If you are the one who don’t want to use wax or shave or hide your facial hair with bleach, but want to remove them in a natural way, then these home remedies are for you! These home remedies help you get rid of stubborn and undesired hair effortlessly. Though these remedies take a long time to show results, but they save you from any side effects.

Home Remedies to Get Rid of Hair on Face





1. Oatmeal





Mix well 6-8 drops of lemon juice, ½ teaspoon oatmeal (coarsely ground) and 1 tablespoon honey, to form a paste. Apply it and let it stay on your face for 15-20 minutes. Gently rub your face for 4-5 minutes against the direction of hair growth. Afterwards, wash off with water. Use it two or three times a week. This scrub not only helps you get rid of undesired hair on your face, but also keeps your skin smooth, hydrated and soft while protecting it against harmful UV rays.





Alternatively, mash 1 ripe banana. Add 1-2 tablespoons of oatmeal to it. Smear the paste on your face and rub in a circular motion for 10-15 minutes. Finally, rinse off with water.





2. Fenugreek





Grind equal quantities of green gram and fenugreek seeds to powder form. Mix both the powders. Add water to prepare a paste. Spread it on your face and let it sit for 15-20 minutes. Rub off the paste with a soft dry cloth. Apart from relieving several health problems, fenugreek also helps remove facial hair.





3. Lentil and Potato Juice





Keep 1 bowl of yellow lentil soaked in water for the whole night. Ground it in the morning to obtain a paste. Add 4 tablespoons lemon juice, 1 tablespoon honey and 1 tablespoon potato juice to the ground lentil. Apply the paste on your face and leave it to dry. Remove it by rubbing with your fingers.





4. Wheat Bran





Wheat bran is good for your health and is also used in various natural cosmetic products. Combine 1 teaspoon rosewater, 1-2 tablespoon wheat bran and 1 tablespoon milk. Smear the resultant grainy scrub on your face. Scrub till the mask dries up and rub in a circular motion. Rinse off with water. Initially, use it daily and then 2-3 times a week. This scrub will reduce the growth of facial hair and confiscate the wrinkles.





Alternatively, mix ¼ teaspoon turmeric, 1 tablespoon fresh milk cream (use curd in place of fresh cream, if your skin is oily), 1 tablespoon gram flour and 1 tablespoon wheat bran, to obtain a paste-like consistency. Apply it on your face. Leave it on for 15-20 minutes. Thereafter, gently rub your face in circular strokes with wet fingers for 2-5 minutes. Rinse off with water. Use it two or three times a week.





5. Orange – Lemon Peel Mask





Vitamin C in lemon and orange peels bleaches your facial hair in a natural way, making them invisible.  They help get rid of undesired hair when mixed with some exfoliating agents. Mix together 1 teaspoon each of lemon and orange peel, oatmeal and ground almond. Add 1 teaspoon each of olive oil and rose water to make a paste. Spread on your face. After 5 minutes, gently rub in circular strokes for 5-10 minutes. Rinse off with water. Use this paste on your face two-three times a week.





6. Turmeric – Papaya Paste





Prepare a paste by mixing ½ teaspoon turmeric powder and pulp of a raw papaya. Use this paste to massage your face. After 10-15 minutes of massage, rinse off with water. For positive results, use it at least once a week.





7. Corn Flour and Egg Sugar Paste





Combine 1 teaspoon each of corn flour and sugar with an egg white. Apply the mixture on your face and let it dry. Then peel it off. Repeat it two times a week.





8. Barley





Mix 1 tablespoon barley powder, 1 tablespoon lime juice and 1 tablespoon milk. Apply the resultant paste on your face. After 25-30 minutes, rinse off with lukewarm water. Use it 3-4 times a week.





9. Honey – Apricot Facial Scrub





Grind ½ cup of dry apricots to get a powder. Add honey to it. Smear the mixture on your face. After leaving for 5-10 minutes, scrub in circular strokes with your fingers for 15-20 minutes. Use lukewarm water to rinse it off.





10. Gelatin Peel-off Mask





Mix 1 tablespoon unflavored gelatin, a few drops of lime juice or 1-2 drops of lavender essential oil, and 2-3 tablespoons milk. Microwave the mixture for 15 seconds, but do not overheat. Since gelatin sets very fast, so apply it on your face immediately. Once the mask dries, peel it off. Along with hair, blackheads will also come off.





Note – Do not apply this mask near your eyes and on eyebrows. In case, you put it on your eyebrows accidently, rub it with wet fingers. Use a little warm water to remove it, if it has set badly.





11. Lemon Juice and Honey





Mix 2 teaspoons lemon juice and 4 tablespoons honey. Spread this mixture in the direction of growth of hair. Leave it on for 15 minutes and then rinse off. For best results, utilize it at least 2 times a week.





12. Rose Water and Alum





Add 2-3 tablespoons of rosewater to ½ teaspoon alum powder. Mix both the ingredients well. With the help of a cotton ball, apply the mixture on your face. Apply again for 20-30 times when it dries off. Then, rinse off with water and moisturize the area by rubbing sesame oil or olive oil. Use this remedy 3-4 times a week.





13. Turmeric





Mix 1-2 teaspoons turmeric powder in milk or water to prepare a paste. The paste’s consistency should be such that it can stay on your face. Apply and let it sit for 15-20 minutes. Rinse off with water. This remedy works better if you have very little or thin hair on your face.





Note – Use turmeric with other ingredients such as ground oats, rice flour or gram flour, if you have dense hair.





14. Sugar – Lemon Mix





Mix 2 tablespoons each of lemon juice and sugar with 10 tablespoons of water. Spread it on your face in the direction of growth of hair. Keep it for 10-15 minutes. Rinse off with water, rubbing gently. Use it 2-3 times a week. The growth of hair will reduce after a few weeks.





Herbal Remedies to Get Rid of Hair on the Face





15. Saw Palmetto Extract





Saw palmetto is a very good herbal remedy to reduce the high levels of androgen in women. Take 160 mg of saw palmetto extract (it is available in the form of the capsule), 2 times a day. While buying the extract, ensure that it contains water-soluble fatty acids. This remedy will take a long time to remove unwanted hair.





Note – Nursing and pregnant women must avoid intake of this herbal extract. Besides, people who are taking blood thinning drugs must consult a doctor before consuming saw palmetto extract.





16. Tea Tree and Lavender Oil





If the reason of hair on your face is hirsutism, then a combo of tea tree and lavender oil can work great as these oils have anti-androgenic activities. Mix 4-6 drops of tea tree oil and 1 teaspoon lavender oil. Soak a cotton ball in this mixture and apply on your face. For effective results, repeat it 2-3 times a day, for 3 months. These oils can also be applied locally on any other part of the body from where you want to remove hair.





17. Onion – Basil Paste





Take thin transparent membranes of 2 onions and crush them with 8-10 fresh basil leaves. Spread it on the areas with excess hair. Continuous use of this paste for one month might remove unwanted hair forever.





18. Turmeric and Indian Nettle





Indian nettle is an herb with several medicinal properties. It is also one of the excellent remedies to remove unwanted hair, especially on the face. Wash a handful of Indian nettle leaves and crush them to make a paste. Add 1 teaspoon of turmeric powder to this paste and mix well. Apply it on your face and let it sit for a couple of hours. Then, rinse it off. You can apply it at night and rinse off in the morning. Use it every day continuously for 5-6 weeks. This mask will initially slow down the growth of your facial hair and gradually, stop it altogether.





19. Safflower Oil and Thanaka Powder





Mix safflower oil and thanaka powder. The consistency of this mixture should be similar to the hair removal cream. Apply it on your face and other areas from where you want to remove hair. Keep it overnight so that your skin absorbs the paste. Wash off with water in the morning. You can do away with your problem permanently by using this mixture for three months on a regular basis.





20. Black Cohosh Herb





This herb is very effective in slowing down the growth of unwanted hair. Bring water to boil and add 1½ tablespoons of dried black cohosh to it. Simmer it for ½ an hour. Remove it from the heat when it reduces to 1/3 of its original quantity. Strain it and add 1 teaspoon honey. Allow it to cool. Drink 1 cup thrice a day. You can also prepare tea of this herb or can use its extract in the form of tincture and capsule.





Note:





If you have tumor or cancer, or some liver ailment, don’t take this herb in any form.





High doses of black cohosh may result in dizziness, nausea, headache, and abdominal discomforts, etc.





21. Spearmint





Excess production of androgens is the cause of the appearance of undesired hair. These hormones can be regulated to a great extent by having spearmint tea. What all you need to do is boil one cup water and add 5-6 fresh spearmint leaves or 1 teaspoon dried spearmint leaves. Remove it from the heat and cover it for 5-7 minutes. Afterwards, strain it and drink. Drink a cup of this tea on a daily basis to treat your problem.
