DIY Beauty Saturdays: Oatmeal, Good for Skin !

Few days back I shared with you my homemade face wash which is really working great on my skin. Now its about my skin exfoliating and face pack part. The beauty industry has a millions of products which will exfoliate your skin, clean and glow your face etc. These products contain plastics, irritating fragrances, glycerine, parabens, phthalates and other questionable ingredients. These commercial products can do a lot of damage to the delicate facial skin. But some time we are helpless and we are bound to use those products only because of our busy lifestyle. I also use those commercial products but simultaneously I like to use homemade beauty recipes. My skin needs a simple exfoliating face scrubs and face packs once a week. Exfoliating helps in removing the dead skin cells and other remaining impurities. It also helps keeping my complexion clear and my skin looking healthy. On the other hand face mask gives glow on my skin and tight the facial muscles.

Today I will be sharing one of my favorite beauty ingredient oats and some beauty recipes with it. Oats has become one of the most commonly used natural ingredients in store-bought masks, scrubs, and facial cleansers.

Why Oats?

Oatmeal is made up of polysaccharides, carbohydrates composed of blended sugar molecules. Oatmeal is a healthy food often eaten by people aiming for their weight loss and a fiber-rich start to the day. As far as beauty enhancement is concerned, it moisturizes, softens, and nourishes it, giving it a longer-lasting protection.

The oatmeal facial mask helps you to solve your redness or those that are caused by allergies or sensitive skins and also adds a glow to your skin!

Also, it enhances the texture of the skin and makes it even. If your skin is damaged due to sunburn/allergies/sensitive rashes, you can try out by taking an Oatmeal Bath! (Very Suitable for Sensitive skins).

I will share with you some of the easy steps for Oatmeal Remedies and Uses :

1. Oatmeal Facial Mask (For all type of skin)

ground Oatmeal and warm water

Take 5–6 tablespoons of ground Oatmeal in a bowl and add little warm water to make a thick and smooth paste. Spread the mixture on the face evenly and let it dry. Rinse it with cold water.

(You can also add milk instead of water! It is pretty good if you have oily skin! )

2. For Dry skin and also a Face Scrub:

Banana, lukewarm milk and Oatmeal

By washing your face with Oatmeal helps in exfoliating the skin and to clean your dead skin leaving the soft and plain skin. Smash a piece of banana in a bowl & add a cup of ground Oatmeal. Mix it well and add lukewarm milk. Make sure you stir it to make a smooth facial mask. Apply it over the face and leave it for 10-15 minutes. About the Ingredients

Bananas have anti-aging skin benefits but are also good for sensitive and acne-prone skin. Because of anti-bacterial properties, bananas help blemishes heal.

Apple has antioxidants and helps prevent cell and tissue damage. Apple also helps reduce and control oil and blemishes. It is also a mild fruit acid (alpha hydroxy acid) to remove dead skin cells.

Baking soda gently exfoliates dead skin cells. It helps open and deep cleanse pores and is also good for clearing away blackheads and absorbing excess oil from the skin.

Honey is great humectants, to hydrate the skin and lock in moisture, and also has anti-bacterial properties.

Lemon is an astringent and is great for skin brightening and diminishing dark marks from acne and skin discolorations.

Egg whites draw out excess oils and the yolk moisturizes. Some people like to use just the egg whites in masks for skin toning.

Rose water has anti-inflammatory properties, soothes irritated skin and is good for sensitive skin. Read this article for Simple Ways to use Rose Water.

To me, I felt it is as good as a healthy breakfast and the Oatmeal facial mask is the best and affordable face cleanser. Oatmeal can also be used as a scrub to exfoliate skin. It is suitable for all skin types (So you need not worry!) It has an anti-inflammatory function; also dry skin can use this facial mask method to obtain smooth skin. I felt Oatmeal is really a cheap & superb home remedies as it has so many uses. So eat Oatmeal on your breakfast and include it in your weekly or daily day beauty regimen.

  1. Oats have been a staple in my skin care regimen for long. It's not that I can't do without them but I feel that there's definitely something missing when I don't make use of them in any DIY 😃
