In today’s digital world, Tiktok App has become one of the most downloaded apps. It has changed the course of the new age Marketing world. Even in India Tiktok has enticed the audiences, especially Millennials, as it gives them agency to express themselves through comedy, dancing, singing, and lip-syncing. 



What was earlier it was known as Musicaly.ly, a karaoke app loved by all, TikTok relaunched with the mission to “ to inspire creativity and bring joy”.  Now it boasts of a whopping 500 million active users worldwide and ranks 9th with respect to other social media sites.

Some most followed Indian celebrities on Tiktok are- Neha Kakkar (16.9 m followers), Shilpa Shetty (18.2 m), Riteish Deshmukh (15.5 m), Jacqueline Fernandez( 13.6 m), Bharti Singh (13.1 m) followers. From Madhuri Dixit to Shahid Kapoor, all celebs use this as a serious medium to promote their work and stay connected with fans. We often see business tycoon Raj Kundra shaking legs with his wife Shilpa Shetty as Tiktok brings out the “fun side” of people too.



TikTok Brings In Abundant Fame

Over the past years, we have seen ‘popular’ people like Instagram influencers,  reality Tv stars,  YouTube creators, pageant winners, and athletes, who were not recognized earlier, shoot to absolute fame with help from Tiktok. It has made them stars. Some teenagers and talented ones from the masses have become TikTok stars overnight. Some top Indian Tiktok stars of 2020 are Riyaz Aly (40.6 m followers),  Nisha Guragain (26.6 m), Arishfa Khan (27.3 m), Avneet Kaur (21.7 m), Awez Darbar (25.3 m), Sameeksha Sud (23.6 m) and Jannat Zubair (26.9 m).


We know one thing for sure that despite the controversies and negative air around the app, the app will continue to grow and will become more popular in the future, as not only influencers, brands and celebrities are using this app, but all demographics and sections of people in India are using it. This makes it evident that the popularity and the app is here to stay.
